From Flensburg, I took a final detour past the Baltic Sea to the Danish border, taking an extensive break on the beach in the morning sunshine.
Border crossing days are always something special and make the heart beat a little faster. So now I had completely crossed the third country in a row!
After a few photos at the old border crossing, I was now in Denmark and the people who still greeted with "Moin" were already behind me after a short time.

At the Danish border
The first day was quite hot, so a refreshment at a gas station in the afternoon came at just the right time, since I had not yet crossed a supermarket that day.
Already from the second day I got the Danish weather: Sometimes it was hot, then again a cold wind, in between rain and sometimes everything at the same time.

The Danish weather in one picture
I enjoyed the fact that almost all the cemeteries there have drinking water and toilets and enjoyed the many shelters for hikers and cyclists that can be found throughout the country. Once I even found a public shower!
The E1 led first over Rødekro, Vojens and Vejen to the north.
Quite a bit before Nørre Snede, I then met at a supermarket that supplied me with Kinder milk slices, a Dane who was also hiking north and so we continued the rest of this day and the following day together.
In the next evening our ways separated then again and I looked for the camping site in Silkeborg. Already quite a while before I had decided the Scandinavian part over Sweden, Norway and Finland not to walk towards the north, but to the south, in order to get no time pressure, since the trails in the high north are passable only to approximately the middle of September.
Since it was convenient for me to take the ferry to Oslo and from there fly to Alta in Norway, I therefore did not walk on the E1 to Grenaa, but via other bike and hiking trails to Frederikshavn.
In order not to get into time pressure, I delayed the booking of ferry and flight for quite a long time, until I finally did everything organizational in Silkeborg at the campsite, because from there I could foresee quite well how long I would still need to Frederikshavn.
The most beautiful section was probably the second last day, when I finally got back to the sea and walked quite a bit through the dunes and along the beach. Although it drizzled again and again and partly a strong wind went, I was just overjoyed to be at the sea and soak up the colors and smells. And in between also the blue sky and the sun had shown from time to time.
I had missed the mountains a little bit, but I should get more of them later again.

Through the dunes to Sæby
So after almost eleven days in Denmark I arrived in Frederikshavn and bought some groceries for my first stage at the North Cape, before I arrived at the harbor to take the overnight ferry to Oslo.
